Mauro Pasta, SOLBAT Project

Professor Mauro Pasta, FRSC, is Professor of Applied Electrochemistry in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford. His research lies at the intersection of electrochemistry and materials chemistry, with a particular focus on battery chemistries beyond conventional lithium-ion systems. He is Principal Investigator of the Faraday Institution’s SOLBAT solid-state battery project and has co-founded multiple battery technology companies, including Natron Energy and Cuberg. Prior to joining Oxford, he conducted postdoctoral research in Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University. He earned his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Milan. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and received the Royal Society of Chemistry’s 2025 Corday-Morgan Mid-Career Prize for his research on novel battery chemistries beyond state-of-the-art lithium-ion systems.
