University of Birmingham

Supervisor(s): Phoebe Allan

Beatrice is undertaking a PhD in lithium ion battery recycling and upcycling with Dr Phoebe Allan at the University of Birmingham, as part of the Faraday Institution ReLiB project. Highlights of the PhD project so far have included the opportunity to run some in-situ PDF experiments at Argonne National Laboratory, and presenting at the Faraday Institution Battery Day 2022. Beatrice undertook a three-month internship at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence in which time she worked on their recycling forecast. She is now working for them one day a week alongside her PhD. Beatrice is motivated by working in sustainability, and aspires to continue her career in the energy storage sector, as she has thoroughly enjoyed using her expertise in a wider global context. Beatrice wants to enhance people’s understanding of the energy storage landscape and its future requirements, in order to ensure we can transition to a fully electric future.
