Degradation | Energy Storage
University of Oxford
Supervisor(s): Robert Weatherup
Michael has an interest in spatially resolving chemical, structural, electronic and ionic phenomena buried at the electrode/electrolyte interfaces. His research seeks to develop in-situ/operando characterisation techniques to capture information on the degradation mechanisms responsible for parasitic side reactions, cathode electrolyte interface (CEI) layer growth, cation mixing etc… Prior to this research Michael was a graduate at AGM batteries Ltd. responsible for developing prototype electrochemical cells for automotive and grid storage applications. Michael looks forward to working with leading figures in the Faraday Institution battery community and is excited about the future prospects of academia and industry.
